How different is LiveDesktop from my current setup? What do I need to learn to use it?

What applications can I use on LiveDesktop?

LiveDesktop gives you access to the best software applications in virtually every area of business, from accounting to manufacturing to fundraising. LiveDesktop will support any Microsoft product. You can add new software to your account with a click. We load, deploy and manage all software, licensing and upgrades from our facilities so that you never have to.

If you wish to run non-Microsoft software, you would have to find a suitable partner to manage that application. Please contact us if you have any questions about program compatibility.

How many users can LiveDesktop support?

You can use LiveDesktop to create a virtual office for a single user or as many as you need. There are no limits to the number of users you can add.

Is backup, archiving and disaster recovery really included?

Yes. ZeroFail provides every LiveDesktop customer with a comprehensive backup solution, which includes daily backup of all data. Your data is actually made doubly secure since we backup all data at our primary datacenter to a second facility to guarantee a higher level of security and redundancy. Each daily backup is retained and archived for 30 days and you can recover your files from any Web-enabled computer. 

How much storage will each user have for files and emails?

Our Lite plan offers 20 GB per user and this can be increased at the customer’s request.  There are no limits for emails.

What type of hardware and mobile devices can I use to access LiveDesktop?

Any device that can connect to the Internet will give you instant and secure access to all your applications, files and data on LiveDesktop. You can work from anywhere at anytime using your laptop, desktop, notebook, thin client, smartphone, Blackberry, iPhone and other mobile devices. Applications on LiveDesktop will always be lightning fast no matter what device you use.

What kind of support is available if I need it?

Every LiveDesktop package includes unlimited technical and customer support by telephone and email from 8:30AM to 5:30PM EST. After hours support can be obtained via email or our 911 Level 1 Technical Support service. In the rare event that an issue occurs at your location, LiveDesktop or a partner’s technician will troubleshoot remotely and come to your office as required.

What security measures does LiveDesktop have in place? How safe is my data?

Your data and files on LiveDesktop are infinitely more secure than in an office PC environment. Our data centers are some of the most physically and logistically secure infrastructures in our industry. Our principle facility was originally built as a treatment center for a major bank. The building is completely self sustained and operate flawlessly through month-long power outages and Tier1 internet provider failures. We have a second, fully independent datacenter in downtown Montreal that provides an additional layer of redundancy.

Comprehensive and redundant daily backups. 30-day archiving. Advanced anti-everything protection against viruses, spam and threats. Ultra-secure, password protected login. Comprehensive access control administration at your fingertips. Who about data ownership and what happens if I cancel my Live Desktop service? 

Though we protect and backup your information and files, you always remain the sole owner of your data. You can cancel your contract at anytime by providing us 90-days written notice. We will give you the continued support and unrestricted access you need to facilitate the transfer of your data. Once you confirm that the transfer is complete we will delete it from our system.

How hard is it to add/delete users from LiveDesktop and control their access?

Using our intuitive administration panel, you can add and delete users from your LiveDesktop account with a few clicks. You can also specify the applications they are allowed to use and limit the files that they are allowed to access. This also enables you to limit the ability of your employees to pursue personal interests on company time. LiveDesktop gives you the flexibility to add users and grant access with just a few clicks.

Will I be able to provide access to third parties?

You can provide third-party companies with access to the system. However, you would have to contact our technical support department if you want to install a third-party application on the server. Our experts will work with you to ensure that your program is installed properly.

What kind of connections does LiveDesktop support?

You can operate LiveDesktop with any Internet-enabled device. Any standard broadband connection will do since upstream traffic is limited to mouse movements and keyboard entries. LiveDesktop will copy and backup your connection data and configurations to streamline your login process.

For current or future fiber-optic connections, our experts can devise a migration path that meets your specific requirements. Our higher-end LiveDesktop solution can be offered with a dedicated fiber-optic link between your premises and our datacenter to allow seamless migration of existing data and services. Our sister division, Fibroptix offers the best fiber optic technology to connect to the internet and direct communication to business locations around the world.

What level of service is in your SLA?

We have a 100% uptime guarantee.

Is LiveDesktop compatible with onsite multifunction peripheral devices (MFPs) that serve several functions like printing, scanning and photocopying?

LiveDesktop interacts smoothly with most MFPs. A device will be compatible with LiveDesktop as long as we can successfully install the MFP driver on our server.

Can on-premise devices like bar code scanners interact with LiveDesktop? 

LiveDesktop will essentially work with any hardware component that can connect through LiveDesktop software (USB, Serial).  Please contact us if you have any questions about compatibility.

Is it safe to create Internet backups using LiveDesktop?

Absolutely. All data in LiveDesktop is 128-bit encrypted and compressed before being uploaded to an offsite server through a secure SSL channel. Encryption and decryption will only be performed on your machine with your password and it will not be transmitted during uploading or downloading. 

Can I use Line of Business (LOB) applications and servers?

Yes - as long as the LOB applications are compatible with Microsoft Terminal Service Technology. The LiveDesktop team can confirm this for you.  

Do you have insurance and coverage?

Yes, LiveDesktop's infrastructure is fully insured.
